chairs are people is the study of still life bringing together a curation of chairs for the process of experimentation and documentation. this project highlights chairs as they are and their interactions. #chairsarepeople is a unique idea using everyday objects as subjects in my art and process. the art of stacking chairs is a visual representation of how i see a community and how when we come together we build something. stacking chairs challenges the mind to view chairs from an abstract point of view.
an empty chair is a space for possibility.
“Stackable chairs are a common notion among designers and manufacturers, a feature created for flexibility and portability. Some of world’s most famous chairs feature a stackable design, from Eames’ Molded Plastic Stacking Side Chair and Kartell’s Master Chair to Alvar Aalto's iconic Stool 60 for Artek. For Houston-based chair stacking artist and photographer, Cary Fagan, the process of stacking chairs is less functional, and more about the practice and exploration.” - Aidan Nova
